September is Missions Emphasis Month. Our theme for the month is “Reaching the World with the Word.” We will have different missionaries coming during the month to share information about their ministries. A brochure detailing the events for Missions Month is available in the lobby. These brochures also contain the Faith Promise cards, which will be collected through Sunday, September 29, to help us determine what more we can do for the worldwide spread of the gospel.
On Saturday, September 14, at 9:00 AM, the PrimeTimers will go on their annual Mystery Trip. There is a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Desk for those who would like to go.
Our Ladies’ Bible Study will begin Tuesday, September 17, at 9:30 AM. The Bible lessons, entitled “Encounters with Christ,” will focus on how the Lord dealt with and impacted those He met.
The fall semester of BBI begins Tuesday, September 17. Fifteen classes are being offered. Brochures have been mailed and are available in the lobby. Online registration is available at the Birmingham Bible Institute website.
There will be a Ladies’ Craft Day on Saturday, September 21, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Bring a craft on which to work, a snack and/or beverage to share, and money for a take-out lunch. For those who wish to make cards, bring enough supplies that everyone who signs up can make any two cards. Card themes are “Fall” (leaves, pumpkins, harvest, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc.); “Animal or Fish” (can be mythical or extinct, e.g. unicorn, dinosaur, etc.); and “Something New” (a new technique you can share).
On Saturday, October 5, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, we will have our annual Fall Festival. The time will be filled with food, fellowship, carnival games, and bounce houses. Donations of individually wrapped, bite-sized candies would be appreciated; please put them in the candy bin in the lobby. This event is open to the community.
Each Saturday morning at 7:00 AM our men meet for fellowship, a short challenge from the Word of God, and prayer. We encourage men to come on Saturday mornings.
Helen M. is hosting a MUMs (Moms Uplifting Moms) group. Its goal is to reach mothers with school-aged children with the Word of God by assisting with devotions and meeting needs. We hope to encourage moms to share, develop Christian fellowship, and attend church. We meet at Helen’s home in Madison Heights on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM.
